Staged Reading: Man and Beast

Hudson Stage Company presents a staged reading of a play by Lynn Rosen (New Dramatists’ playwright and creator of “Darwin” webseries) on Friday, June 10th at 7:30pm at The Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton-on-Hudson, NY.

Directed by Giovanna Sardelli (The God Game) with a Q&A following the performance that includes all the participating artists.

This event is made possible by funding from ArtsWestchester, the NY State Council on the Arts and the Croton Free Library. Free to the general public. Denise Bessette, Dan Foster and Olivia Sklar, HSC Producers.

Synopsis:
As his predictable life crumbles around him, a white social worker tends to a black client who tends to an orange tiger. Does everyone bite the hand that feeds them? Caring for others has rarely been more complex or more threatening. Inspired by true events, Man and Beast is a darkly comic drama about the repercussions of confronting your authentic self

Annual Appeal

The first full year in our new home at Whippoorwill Theatre in Armonk has been an overwhelmingly successful one. Our productions have been met with universal critical acclaim, and many new patrons have walked through our doors—joining our already loyal base of theatregoers. All of this has confirmed our hopes that the move was a wise one, and that you are enjoying the experience you are having in Armonk. We also appreciate your comments that our choice of plays—John Patrick Shanley’s Outside Mullingar and Other Desert Cities by Jon Robin Baitz are the kind of challenging and satisfying theatrical experiences that you want to have.

Of course, all of this comes at a cost. Our intimate 180-seat theatre means that box office income can only cover 35% of the costs of putting on our productions. And while we receive generous (yet dwindling) government grants, it is ultimately through philanthropy, individual and corporate donations that we can bring world- class theatre to our stage. This is where you come in. We know that you receive countless letters like this asking you to support very deserving not-for-profit organizations. We hope that as a fan of our work we can be included in your yearly gift giving. Every donation, no matter how large or small, is incredibly important and truly makes a difference.

Thank you again for your generosity. The HSC family wishes you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season. See you in the spring.
